Trump Apologizes for Sexual Assault Comments, Not
Donald Trump can be heard bragging about sexually assaulting women and about trying to coerce Nancy O'Dell, into having sex with him. She was a newly wed and refused his advances. Today this tape surfaced in a chat and a friend commented that it was 'locker room' talk (I say it isn't - I say it is bragging about sexual assault which is not acceptable anywhere) and that he had apologized. Well, he did do something that he called an apology - here's a
Apology? It was anything but.
It is a justification in numerous ways for what he said. He said the tape was old. Compared it to Clinton, It was a distraction. The words don't reflect the true him. Maybe the only sincere thing he said was that he is sorry he said them.
An apology would take responsibility and show genuine contrition. He didn't apologize to the victims. He made no apology at all to the people he physically and mentally hurt - like the wife who remained faithful even though he... Why listen to me - let's hear it straight from the President himself; '“I did try and fuck her. She was married,” Trump says....“I moved on her like a bitch, but I couldn’t get there. And she was married,”'
Where's the apology to her husband, Keith Zubchevich? What about some contrite words to this woman who has been violated before the whole world after his sexual aggression was aired for all?
Do you have friends that speak like this about your other friends' wives? I bet not - I bet you wouldn't accept this kind of individual.
This comment and the need to brag about it - the need to brag to a near stranger about it - shows very disturbing mental processes.
Play one moment with this idea - after a few decades of going around the Earth, we all know of instances when a man has had an affair with a married woman; humans live in real life. OK for a moment let's assume that a man hits on another man's wife, maybe she assents, maybe not; doesn't matter with this argument. What kind of man then brags to a near total stranger about this. I've know some flirts, runarounds, good time girls and guys, loose women and men; I've even known some homewreckers and gold diggers and social climbers, both male and female. I've known prolific heterosexuals, prolific homosexuals and prolific persons who are less bothered about male or female as long as sex is involved. But I've never heard anyone brag about hitting on a virtuous woman the way he did; even the way he aggressively presses her for sex is a gross violation in my books. She was not considered a consensual partner. She was an object to be used, a conquest. The worst philanderer wouldn't say, ' .“I did try and fuck her. She was married,” Trump says....“I moved on her like a bitch' as he does in the recording. To me, this shows a warped attitude toward humans, toward oneself and and toward one's place in society. It shows a mental and spiritual sickness.
People like this are the sickness of society and they cause dis ease wherever they practice their abusive arts. Healthy, good people work to make society better by always working toward better health, by healing and cleansing society's ailments - this is part of our prescribed civic duty as codified by jury duty. But it doesn't stop with jury duty - we all are healing the world each day even if we don't think about it - doing our own bit to make our family better and to make our community better and to make the greater world better; you have done your part with gusto your whole life by devotion and by being, ceaselessly, a decent and upstanding person (all here will testify in support of this last statement).
We just about all are trying to do our part to make the world a better place. One part of this for me (and it's an odd place as I'd rather be quietly and secretly fishing in holes I've poached from friends that are loved) is being honest about the situation we face. I have never felt this way about politics but every cell in my body, all my experience and education and intuition scream that this man and the times he's forcing are an existential threat to our nation and to our way of life.
Sexual comments are not alone enough to disqualify him to me - I'm pretty open minded - but they are a window to a harmful and dangerous predatory person who through pride and greed and lust would harm us, all of us in America and the world, in order to gratify the lusts of his ego.
Soon something will break and a new opinion will form. I believe it is seen now. When the time is correct, all of America will join together to rebuild after this dark chapter and when that time comes all hands will be needed and welcome.
