An 800 Pound Gorilla Moment
"At its most basic, strategy is simply a matter of figuring out what we need to achieve, determining the best way to use the resources at our disposal to achieve it, then executing the plan.
Unfortunately, in the practical world of politics and war, none of these things are easily done. Our goals are complex, sometimes contradictory, and many-sided. They often change in the middle of a war. The resources at our disposal are not always obvious, can change during the course of a struggle, and usually need to be adapted to suit our needs. And the enemy is often annoyingly uncooperative, refusing to fit our preconceptions of him or to stand still while we erect the apparatus for his destruction."
from Christopher Bassford's 'POLICY, POLITICS, WAR, and MILITARY STRATEGY' quoted from Clausowitz.com
Times of chaos and upheaval are at their very nature times of 'reshuffling the deck' which allows for new formations. Many of us are keenly aware of the upheaval being forced upon our nation, the world, our communities and also inside each of us. There may be a bull in the china shop - but no bull has ever stayed in the same china shop forever - and this orange one also will not last. Something will return once the bull is expelled - and this is a most valuable opportunity for us.
There are tactics that we can use - and the field will be very favorable to us once the walls begin to crumble around this dark menace. The pendulum will swing. Look at all the progress made over the past dozen or so years - seriously, slow down one moment and look at all the progress that has been made. When it turns again there will be even greater opportunities - if he destroys environmental protections, we will have the chance to rewrite them even stronger in the vacuum of his destruction, for example. The powerful objectors to our goals that stick with the Orange One will forever be weakened and tainted with his treasonous crimes and disordered brutality - this means a window of opportunity.
But we must have goals, if we are to be able to perceive the means of achieving them. We must know how we want the deck stacked in our favor if we are to stack it. What do we wish to achieve?
War has been declared on America and our values. We tried to avoid this; they insisted. There is a rather crude expression that seems relevant in regard to the haters and abusers and manipulators who have exposed themselves as deplorable allies to the enemies of America. As the walls close in and crumble around these dark and hateful forces, let's make sure they understand what it means to make love to an 800 pound gorilla. They chose to romance and seduce the 800 pound gorilla. And when one does this, one cannot simply decide to stop. Once started, the lovemaking session ends only when the 800 pound gorilla decides it's time to stop. We are the 800 pound gorilla - and I say we never stop until our goals and objectives are met. They started this war voluntarily and without provocation - and they should have the full 'enjoyment' of their cruel folly for as long as it takes to check our items off the list.
When does one stop making love to and 800 pound gorilla? When the gorilla says so.
What are the goals and objectives?
